Revision: exam day, the revision sheet and the quiz
One last page to bring it all together: how the exam runs, the essentials to remember, a quiz and the list of what you need to know before you take it.
In the exam programme
- Ride, in a good position, a Galop® 6 test at Club 2 level or the equivalent Pony class, and a sequence of movements like those of the Club 2 Preliminary dressage test.Dressage
- Ride a Club 2 show-jumping or Hunter round, or the equivalent Pony class, fluently.Show jumping
- Ride a Club 2 cross-country course fluently.Cross-country
Exam day
Depending on your riding school, Galop 6 is taken in one session or lesson by lesson. In a session, it often begins with the care — the horse trimmed and plaited — then lungeing with a small jump, and long-reining. In the saddle come the warm-up, the Club 2 test, the show-jumping round and the cross-country, in the order the examiner sets. Knowledge is tested orally, in writing or beside the horse.
- A hat to current standards when riding, a body protector for cross-country.
- Tack checked, boots on, studs if needed.
- The test learnt by heart, the plaiting kit ready the day before.
